Clemson’s Helping Hands foster home for abused and neglected children will be the beneficiary of an effort by a candidate for Miss Woodmen of the World Regional South Carolina.

Former Travelers Rest High School graduate, Brittany Way has recently been named Miss. Laurens County Woodmen of the World 2013-2014. Miss. Woodmen Regional South Carolina is the first pageant this system will have. The regional pageant will be in June 2014 in Greenville and the first Miss. Woodmen South Carolina will be in Columbia in 2015.

Way’s next project will be taking up donations for Helping Hands of Clemson. She is just asking for personal hygiene items, but she will also accept monetary donations for they will go straight to Helping Hands in one lump sum check. This next year will be a memorable and growing year ahead for her and all the other girls participating.

As a Woodmen Queen each girl will participate in community services and have a platform for which they stand for. For community services, Way so far has collected school supplies for Duncan Chapel Elementary School in Greenville over this past summer. She has had to make two trips to Duncan Chapel due to the large amount of donations.

In October, she and two other WOW girls will be participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk at Furman. Together these girls have a team of four walking as “Team WOW.”
